The Week's Developments

Well, I didn't get around to the moves until after midnight again this week.  There was this dull football game on TV, and somehow I just got distracted into watching it.  Can't remember who won . . .

Aside from the 200 hours I put in creating this site, it's been a slow week.  That is, my team has barely moved (although the Cities did somehow manage to inch into third place).  The Skids have maintained their uncanny dominance, even rising to 2nd place in WHIP yesterday, which is almost astonishing as their lead in Wins, given that they have no starting pitchers over 17 years old.  The race may seem over, and indeed, it probably is.  But here's my scenario for a photo-finish:

The Skids have to lose just a bit of their pitching magic, dropping back below the Mud Hens and also the Mtn Men in Ratio, and losing ground to the Pets and HamEggs (at least) in Wins.  Certainly plausible, I'd say.  Then, my Cities have to pass them again in OBP (the margin has been narrowing to a hair), and the Mtn Men have to regain the RBI point that is so close.  That's a loss of 6 points from today's 62 for the Skids, down to 56, and it could potentially happen in just a couple of days' time, if everything broke right.  Now, it's pretty obvious that the Boomers could get to 56 points, but with the right stretch run, so could either the Cities or even the Mud Hens.  If you're rooting for us ABS-type (Anyone but Skids), then you've got to root hardest against guys like Justin Thompson, Scott Karl, and yes, Ken Griffey.  Otherwise, let's at least go for a close 2nd place race.

The Moves.  In case they aren't in the Stats service yet, here they are:

Finally, there's a whole bunch of guys who must be either activated or waived by next Sunday night.  There WILL be one more week in which to claim these guys, so pay attention.  They include (there may be others): Walton, Mack, Encarnacion, Walker, Pavlik, Haney, Sirotka, Ducey, J. Abbott, Tinsley.  All of these guys will be waived unless I hear otherwise next week.  Let me know if there are any questions.

Party?  Hey, how about a World Series party this year?  Any interest?  We desperately need to figure out how we deal with expansion and realignment.  Let's start thinking about timing and location, and let me know your interest and availability (October's going to be a tough month for me.)  Talk to you soon.
